Snug Print respects the work of photographers, illustrators, writers and every other creator, and we expect the same from everyone who uses our site or orders from us. This page explains how to tell us if you believe something on snugprint.shop, or something we have been asked to print, infringes your copyright, and what we do when we receive a notice. For trademarks, design rights and other intellectual property questions, please see our Intellectual Property Policy.

At a glance

  • Send copyright notices by email to support@snugprint.shop with the subject line “Copyright notice”.
  • Include the six elements listed in section 3 so we can act on your notice without delay.
  • We acknowledge notices within 24 hours on business days and review each complete notice as quickly as we can.
  • When a notice is valid, we remove or disable the material and stop printing it.
  • Customers whose content was removed can send a counter-notification if they believe it was a mistake.

1. Why copyright matters in a personalized shop

Most of what we print comes from our customers. A typical Snug Print blanket combines one of our own layouts, such as a photo grid, a family tree or a starry-sky name design, with photos, names and short texts that a customer sends us in the Order notes box at checkout or by email. That means copyright questions can come up in two places:

  • Content on our website, such as product images, design illustrations, product descriptions and page text.
  • Content customers ask us to print, such as a professional wedding photo, a portrait taken by a studio, a song lyric or a poem written by someone else.

Our Terms of Service require every customer to own, or have permission to use, every photo and text they send. We cannot print song lyrics, poems, characters, logos or other material owned by someone else without permission. This page is the route for rights holders when something slips through.

2. What this page covers

This page applies to all material on snugprint.shop, including product photos and mockups, design artwork, descriptions, help pages and any customer content shown on the site, such as verified-buyer reviews. It also covers personalized blankets we have been asked to produce, where you believe the requested content uses your copyrighted work. It follows the notice-and-takedown process of the U.S. Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512) and is intended to respect similar laws in Canada, Australia and New Zealand.

Snug Print is a single shop, not a marketplace, so there are no third-party sellers on our site. Every product listed here is offered by Snug Print, 716 Liberty Bell Ln, Libertyville, IL 60048, US.

3. How to send a copyright notice

Please send a written notice by email to support@snugprint.shop with the subject line “Copyright notice”. Your notice must include:

  1. A physical or electronic signature of the copyright owner, or of a person authorised to act on the owner’s behalf. A typed full name at the end of the email is accepted as an electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed, for example the title of the photograph, the name of the illustration or a link to where the original is published.
  3. Identification of the material you believe infringes it, with the exact URL or URLs on snugprint.shop, or a clear description if the material is a product you saw or received.
  4. Your name, postal address, telephone number and email address, so we can contact you about the notice.
  5. A statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use of the material is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law.
  6. A statement that the information in your notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you are the copyright owner or are authorised to act on the owner’s behalf.

Attachments that help, such as a screenshot of the page or a copy of your original work, are welcome. Incomplete notices can delay our response, because we will need to write back and ask for the missing details.

Examples of what to include in a notice
SituationHelpful details
Your photograph appears in a product image on our siteThe product URL, where your photo was first published, and the date you took or published it
Your illustration or pattern looks copied in one of our designsThe product URL, a link or file of your original, and when it was created
Your poem or lyric was quoted in a product description or pageThe page URL, the exact passage, and where your work is published
You are a studio photographer and believe a client’s order uses your portrait without a licenceThe image, your studio name, and any details of the order or recipient you have; we will look into it with the customer

4. What we do when we receive a notice

We confirm that your notice arrived within 24 hours on business days. We then review it as quickly as we can, and our review always looks at the specific material you identified. When a notice is complete and valid:

  • Website content is removed or disabled, for example a product image is taken down or a description is rewritten, and we confirm this to you by email.
  • A design of ours that you show is copied is withdrawn from sale while we review it, and removed permanently if the claim is upheld.
  • A customer’s requested content that is still waiting to be printed is not printed. We contact the customer, explain why, and offer to change the design or cancel and refund the order.
  • Customer content shown on the site, such as a review photo, is removed and the person who posted it is told why. Where the law allows, we share a copy of your notice with your contact details withheld.

If we cannot act because information is missing, we tell you what we still need. If we believe a notice does not show an infringement, for example because the material is the customer’s own photo, we explain our reasons and you remain free to pursue the matter as the law allows.

5. Counter-notification for customers

If content you submitted was removed, or your order was paused, and you believe this happened by mistake or because the material was misidentified, you may send us a counter-notification by email with the subject line “Counter-notification”. It must include:

  1. Your physical or electronic signature.
  2. Identification of the material that was removed and where it appeared, or the order number concerned.
  3. A statement under penalty of perjury that you have a good-faith belief the material was removed or disabled as a result of mistake or misidentification.
  4. Your name, address and telephone number, and a statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal district court for the judicial district of your address (or, if you are outside the United States, any judicial district in which Snug Print may be found), and that you will accept service of process from the person who sent the original notice or their agent.

We forward valid counter-notifications to the person who sent the original notice. Under the DMCA, removed material may be restored 10 to 14 business days after we receive the counter-notification, unless the original sender tells us they have filed a court action. For a paused order, we will agree the next step with you directly, which may be printing as ordered, changing the design, or a full refund.

6. False or misleading notices

Under 17 U.S.C. § 512(f), anyone who knowingly makes a material misrepresentation in a notice or counter-notification can be liable for damages, including costs and legal fees. Before sending a notice, please consider whether the use could be authorised, for example a customer printing their own copy of a photo they paid a photographer for, or a fair use. If you are not sure, you may wish to get legal advice first.

7. Repeat infringement

We do not accept further personalisation orders from, and may close the accounts of, customers who repeatedly send material that infringes someone else’s copyright. When a concern is raised about one of our own designs, we look at it carefully and remove anything that should not be on the site.

8. Tips for customers: sending content you are allowed to print

Most copyright problems with personalized blankets are easy to avoid. Before you paste photos and words into the Order notes box, ask yourself a few questions:

  • Did I take this photo, or do I have the photographer’s permission? Family snapshots on your phone are yours. Professional wedding or newborn photos often come with a licence for personal prints; check your photographer’s terms if you are unsure.
  • Are these my own words? Your vows, a letter you wrote or a family saying are perfect. Song lyrics, published poems and quotes from books or films usually belong to someone else.
  • Does the photo show logos or characters? A child in a superhero costume is fine as a family photo, but we cannot add a character’s name, logo or official artwork as part of the design.
  • Do the people in the photo agree? For a group or reunion photo, it is kind to let everyone know it will be printed.

If you are unsure whether something can be printed, email support@snugprint.shop before you order and we will tell you what we can do. Our FAQs also explain how to share photos safely.
