Intellectual Property Policy

Last updated:

This Intellectual Property Policy explains who owns what on snugprint.shop and on a Snug Print blanket: our name, logo and designs, the photos and words you send us for personalisation, and the rights of everyone else. It also explains how you may use our content, what we ask you not to do, and how to report a trademark, design or other intellectual property concern. For copyright notices specifically, please use our DMCA page.

1. What belongs to Snug Print

Snug Print is an online shop at 716 Liberty Bell Ln, Libertyville, IL 60048, US, selling personalized fleece and sherpa throws. The following content on snugprint.shop is owned by Snug Print or used under licence, and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws:

  • the Snug Print name and our logo, including the folded-blanket “S” mark;
  • our design layouts, such as the classic photo grid, heart collage, film strip, instant-photo scatter, family tree, grandmother’s garden, timeline, map, starry-sky name, alphabet border and memorial designs;
  • illustrations, patterns, borders and decorative elements used in those designs;
  • product descriptions, size and care guidance, help pages and policy pages;
  • product images, mockups and graphics on the site, and the site’s layout, styling and code.

A design layout is the arrangement and artwork we create around your photos and words. When you buy a blanket, you own that physical blanket and may use, gift or display it as you wish. Buying a blanket does not transfer the rights in the design layout itself, so the layout may not be copied to make other products for sale.

2. What belongs to you

The photos, names, dates and personal texts you send us for personalisation, whether typed in the Order notes box at checkout, shared through an album link or emailed with your order number, remain yours (or belong to whoever holds the rights in them). We do not claim ownership of them. By sending them, you give us a limited, non-exclusive permission to copy, resize, crop, arrange and print them, and to share them with our printing and fulfilment partners, only to make and deliver your order and to deal with any return or reprint. We delete customer photos 30 days after delivery, as described in our Privacy Policy.

We never use your photos or your blanket in advertising, on social media or on the site unless you have sent us pictures of it and agreed in writing that we can show them.

3. How you may use our content

You are welcome to:

  • view and print pages from the site for your own personal, non-commercial use, for example printing the size guide before choosing a throw;
  • share links to our product pages and categories by message, email or social media;
  • quote short extracts from our pages with a link back to the original page;
  • share photos of a blanket you bought from us, showing it in your home or as a gift.

4. What you may not do

  • Copy, reproduce, resell or republish our product images, design layouts, illustrations or descriptions, including on marketplaces, print-on-demand platforms or other stores.
  • Recreate our designs, or designs that are confusingly similar, to sell blankets or other products.
  • Use the Snug Print name, our logo or anything confusingly similar in a way that suggests you are connected with us or endorsed by us.
  • Scrape or bulk-download site content with automated tools, except normal search engine indexing.
  • Remove copyright or ownership notices from any content.

If you would like to use our content in a way not listed in section 3, please ask first (see section 10).

5. Respecting other people’s rights in personalized orders

A personalized blanket is only as fair as the content printed on it. Our Terms of Service ask every customer to send only photos and words they own or have permission to use. To avoid infringing anyone’s rights, we do not print the following unless the customer can show permission from the rights holder:

Content we cannot print without the rights holder’s permission
Type of contentExamplesWhat we can offer instead
Brand logos and trademarksSports team logos, car badges, fashion brand marksYour own photo of the person or pet, with names and dates in our fonts
Characters and franchise artworkCartoon, film, game or comic charactersA starry-sky, alphabet or name design for children
Song lyrics and published poemsA chorus from a wedding song, a well-known poemYour own vows, a letter you wrote, or a short line in your own words
Professional photos without a print licenceStudio portraits or wedding photos where the photographer keeps print rightsThe same photo once your photographer confirms personal printing is allowed
Images of celebrities or public figuresA famous person’s portraitPhotos of your own family, friends or pets

If an order includes content like this, we will email you before printing and offer to change the design, or to cancel the order with a full refund. This protects you as well as the rights holder, and it is why some orders may need a short conversation before production starts.

6. Our trademarks and other people’s marks

Snug Print and our logo are our trademarks, whether or not they are registered. Other names and marks that may appear on the site, for example in a customer’s question or a third-party service name, belong to their respective owners. Their appearance does not mean those owners endorse or sponsor Snug Print.

7. Our own designs and other creators

Our design layouts are created for Snug Print or used under licence. We do not knowingly sell designs that copy another creator’s artwork, patterns or layouts. If you are an illustrator, designer or brand owner and you believe one of our designs uses your work or is confusingly similar to your trademark or registered design, please tell us using section 8. We take every report seriously and will withdraw a design from sale while we look into a credible concern.

8. How to report an intellectual property concern

Email support@snugprint.shop with the subject line “IP concern” and include:

  1. Your name, email address and postal address, and your relationship to the rights owner (for example owner, employee or legal representative).
  2. The right you believe is infringed, such as a trademark registration number and country, a registered design, or a description and image of your original work.
  3. The URL of each product or page concerned on snugprint.shop, or a description of a product you received.
  4. A short explanation of why you believe it infringes your rights.
  5. A statement that the information in your report is accurate and that you are the rights owner or authorised to act for them.

For copyright in photos, artwork or text, please follow the process on our DMCA page, which has the specific elements copyright law requires.

9. What happens after you report

We confirm receipt within 24 hours on business days and then review the report and the material it identifies. If we need more information, we ask before making a decision. If the concern is valid, we remove or change the content, withdraw the design, or stop an order from being printed, and we let you know what we did. If we disagree, we explain why. We keep the information in your report private and use it only to handle the concern.

10. Permission requests, ideas and feedback

To ask permission to use our content, for example to feature a product image in an article, email support@snugprint.shop with details of what you would like to use and where. We reply within 24 hours on business days.

If you send us ideas for new designs or suggestions for the site, thank you. We may use them freely without payment or credit, but we will never publish your personal information or your photos without your permission.

11. Common questions about rights and personalisation

Can I print a photo my wedding photographer took?

Usually yes, if your photographer’s contract allows personal prints, which many do. If you are not sure, check the contract or ask the photographer, then send the photo link in your Order notes. If a photographer contacts us about a print, we will look at the licence together with you.

Can I add my favourite team’s logo to a family blanket?

No. Team names and logos are trademarks, and we cannot print them without the team’s permission. You can, however, send a family photo taken at a game; we print your own photo as it is, without adding official artwork or logos as design elements.

Can I use a line from our wedding song?

Song lyrics are protected by copyright, so we cannot print them on our Own Words Spiral or any other design. Many couples write their own short line instead, or use their vows. If you hold a licence for the lyric, tell us in the order notes and email us a copy of it.

Can I sell blankets I bought from Snug Print?

You may give away or resell a blanket you own, as with any personal item. What you may not do is copy our design layouts to produce new blankets or other products for sale.

Can I post photos of my blanket online?

Of course. Photos of a blanket in your home are yours to share. We only ask that you do not present our designs as your own work for commercial purposes.

What happens to my photos if there is a rights concern after delivery?

Customer photos are deleted 30 days after delivery, whatever happens. If someone raises a concern about a delivered blanket, we review it using the order record and the information the person sends us, and we contact you if we need your help, for example to confirm that a photographer allowed personal prints.

Can I ask you to use a design idea of my own?

You can describe a layout in the order notes, for example which photo goes in the centre of a grid or how two names should be ordered, and we follow it within the design you chose. We cannot create a completely new design for a single order, and any custom arrangement we print for you stays part of your own blanket only.
